Why Shredder Blades Determine Your Final Output

Blade design and quality directly decide your throughput, energy cost, and finished particle size.

Four-shaft shredder blade set
  • 🛠️ Up to 60% of long-term operating cost is related to blades – sharpening, replacement, and downtime.
  • Blade geometry and hardness affect cutting efficiency, energy use per ton, and overall throughput.
  • Incorrect or low-quality blades cause inefficient cutting, uneven output, material jams, and extra wear on the machine.

Choosing the right blades means a more reliable, productive, and cost-effective shredding line.

Longer Blade Life Means Lower Operating Cost

When blades last longer, you buy fewer sets, stop the machine less often and keep your total shredding cost per ton under control — even if the initial investment in the machine is higher.

From Blade Lifetime to Real Annual Cost

Compared with typical market knives (average lifetime = A), Haitem blades are designed to reach around 1.3–1.4 × A under similar working conditions.

  • Fewer blade changes per year mean less spending on spare knives and less labour for maintenance.
  • Shorter downtime windows help keep your shredder producing instead of waiting for blade replacement.
  • Over the lifetime of the machine, the savings in blades and downtime can offset a higher purchase price of the complete shredder.
+30–40%
Longer Blade Life*
Compared with standard knives, Haitem blades typically run longer before each replacement cycle.
Up to 20–30%
Lower Annual Blade Cost*
Fewer sets purchased per year reduce the tooling budget for your shredding line.
Less Downtime
Fewer Changeovers*
Reduced blade change frequency cuts planned stoppages and keeps production running longer.
Higher Uptime
More Productive Hours
Longer blade life supports higher annual output, lowering cost per ton and improving project payback.

*Values are indicative and based on typical projects. Actual savings depend on material type, loading conditions and maintenance practices.

What Our Customers Say About Haitem Blades

Real feedback from users who upgraded to Haitem blades – higher output, longer knife life and more stable machines for day-to-day production.

Higher Monthly Output

“Our monthly output went up after switching to Haitem blades.”

After changing to Haitem knives on one of our lines, we noticed fewer stoppages for blade adjustment and a smoother cutting process. As a result, our actual monthly output increased without adding extra shifts.

— Production Manager, Tire Recycling Plant
Longer Blade Life

“Blade lifetime is about 30% longer than our previous brand.”

With the same material and working hours, Haitem blades last significantly longer than our old supplier. We change knives less often, reduce spare parts stock and the overall annual tooling cost is clearly lower.

— Maintenance Supervisor, Metal Scrap Processor
Stable & Reliable

“The shredder runs more stable and material jams are much less.”

The cutting is more even and the torque remains stable, especially on heavy loads. Material bridging and blockages are reduced, so operators feel more confident running the machine continuously.

— Line Operator, Industrial Shredding Project

Choosing Haitem blades is not only about knives themselves — it is about higher uptime, more stable production and a lower cost per ton over the life of your shredder.

Haitem Blades FAQ

Common questions about Haitem shredder blades, compatibility, service life and after-sales support. If you need a detailed quotation, our engineers can review your application case by case.

  • Can Haitem blades fit my existing shredder brand?

In many cases, yes. We can produce replacement blades based on your current machine drawings, blade samples or key dimensions (outer diameter, inner diameter, thickness, number of teeth, hole pattern, etc.).

    For best accuracy, please send:

    • Machine brand and model
    • Photos of blades and cutting chamber
    • Basic dimensions or drawings (if available)
  • What materials are Haitem blades made from?

We typically use high-grade alloy steels such as Cr12MoV, D2, SKD11 or equivalent wear-resistant materials, selected according to your material type and working conditions.

For very abrasive or heavy-duty applications, upgraded materials and special heat treatment can be supplied upon request.

  • How much longer do Haitem blades last compared with normal blades?

Under similar working conditions, Haitem blades are designed to reach around 1.3–1.4× the service life of many common market blades, thanks to material selection, heat treatment and grinding accuracy.

The actual lifetime still depends on:

    • Material type (metal, tires, plastic, mixed waste, etc.)
    • Feeding method and loading
    • Required output size and screen
    • Daily maintenance and lubrication
  • Can the blades be re-sharpened? How many times?

Yes, most Haitem blades can be re-sharpened multiple times, as long as the remaining thickness and geometry are within safe limits for your shredder.

As a general guideline, many customers re-sharpen 3–5 times before final replacement. Our team can provide a recommendation based on your specific blade type and application.

  • What is the usual lead time and minimum order quantity?

For standard Haitem shredder models, blades are usually produced within approximately 15–30 days after confirming drawings and payment, depending on quantity and material.

MOQ is normally one full set for a shredder, but we can also support trial orders for new projects. Please contact us with your machine model and quantity requirements.

  • Do you provide technical support for blade selection?

Yes. Our engineers can recommend suitable blade material, hardness and design according to:

    • Your shredded material (metal, tires, plastic, e-waste, wood, etc.)
    • Required capacity and output size
    • Existing shredder type (single shaft, dual shaft, four shaft)

This helps you balance blade lifetime, energy consumption and shredding efficiency.

  • What if I purchase Haitem shredder and blades together?

When you choose Haitem shredder and blades as a complete package, the cutting chamber, rotor and knives are designed as one system. This usually means:

    • More stable operation and fewer material jams
    • Higher uptime and easier maintenance
    • Optimized blade cost per ton over the life of the machine

For new projects, we recommend evaluating the complete Haitem solution instead of only changing blades.
